Although passed in 2005 to set stricter standards for identification, it has taken years for states to prepare for REAL ID Act compliancy and implementation. This deadline was extended from October 1, 2020, due to the COVID-19…

    ByJordan Muse March 11, 2019December 26, 2024

Going with the lowest rate you can find sounds like a good idea, but what are you ultimately sacrificing? In this article, we’ll explain how booking with online travel sites and using other booking methods could end up costing you a lot more than the number you see on the screen.

A Business Traveler’s Primer If you travel frequently for business, chances are you’ve learned to simplify your process as much as possible. You always have backup chargers to prevent that panicked run for a replacement before a meeting. You choose shoes that are comfortable in the airport and on the conference floor. You eliminate every…

The Importance of Simplified Travel in a Complicated World

    ByADTRAV January 15, 2019December 26, 2024

Simplifying business travel as a whole is becoming increasingly important in today’s fast-paced world. According to a survey by the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), travel program simplification is a major priority for corporate travel managers in 2019. The survey states that the benefits of program simplification include “improved traveler satisfaction, reduced costs, and…

    ADTRAV Bulletin: TSA Pre✓ Reminders

    ByADTRAV December 8, 2018December 26, 2024

Although TSA Pre✓ should be granted almost every time to travelers enrolled in the program, it isn’t guaranteed. The TSA checks for eligibility on every flight, and sometimes travelers are randomly excluded. Please also note that only certain airlines and airports participate in the program. If travelers are flying on an airline or through an airport…

Three Ways a Travel Management Company Can Transform Your Business

    ByJordan Muse September 19, 2018December 26, 2024

According to a J.P. Morgan study, company T&E (travel & expense) is the second largest expense behind payroll… The good news is that it can largely be controlled—if you have the right tools and expertise. The bad news is a lot companies don’t. Effectively managing a corporate travel program requires experience, smarter technology, and quite…

Pro Tip #5

If you’re dreaming of a family escape, let Adventure Travel turn those dreams into reality. We left Mexico with full hearts, sandy toes, and a renewed sense of connection. Where will your travel dreams take you next?

Pro Tip #4

Let your hotel arrange your cab for peace of mind, and ask about rates ahead of time. While Tulum is generally safe, it’s always smart to stay cautious, especially outside the tourist zones.

Pro Tip #3

Pack snacks, set an early alarm, and hit the road by 5:30 AM to beat the crowds and the heat. You’ll thank me later!

Pro Tip #2

Regular sunscreen is a no-go in cenotes. Protect your skin and the environment with reef-safe, biodegradable sunscreen. Our guide carried a large umbrella for extra shade—a thoughtful touch that was much appreciated.

Pro Tip #1

The Yucatán Peninsula’s heat is no joke, so keep everyone hydrated. We stayed at a fabulous all-inclusive Hilton, where water quality wasn’t a major concern, but when you venture out, stick to purified water. For an extra layer of safety, consider a reusable straw with a filter. It’s eco-friendly and practical—no need to rely on single-use plastics.

Pro Tip #7

The Samburu village is only an option in the late afternoon, after children are home from school and shepherds are returning with their flocks/herds.

Guests are specifically asked not to give money or goods to the village directly to not create an unhealthy and disruptive association with tourists. However, it’s important to note both The Safari Collection and other operators are well-known for philanthropic and conservation efforts and they provide opportunities for guests to give back.

Pro Tip #6

The staff will set up beds on the rooftop for clients who want to sleep beneath a blanket of stars. From my experience, this property would make a great choice for couples and families. There are two family rooms: the Riverside Family Suite and the Poolside Family Suite. These have connected rooms with central living areas.

Pro Tip #5

It was surprisingly cold in the mornings and evenings, but the lodge provides fleece ponchos for guests to keep warm on game drives. They also have flip-up seats on top of the safari vehicle to enhance wildlife viewing. Wellies and rain jackets are provided in guests’ room. While I didn’t need them, it is a thoughtful touch.

Pro Tip #4

The “retreat” is the spa area, and there are several day rooms that are available for clients since departure flights are generally late evening. This is a great option for guests who want the interactive experience (i.e., an Instagram moment) without the full price tag of an overnight stay.

Pro Tip #3

Many people may already know this, but army-type camouflage uniforms and hats are forbidden. (Khaki is fine, but not camo). While on safari, it’s generally advised not to wear white or brightly colored clothing as this sometimes spooks animals. Light-colored, lightweight clothing that can be paired with layers works best.

Pro Tip #2

It’s chilly then, so we recommend guests bring layers to add and remove as needed. Some game drives begin early, so it’s good to be prepared to enjoy them. Oh! And take a bandana or some type of face covering for game drives on dusty roads.

Pro Tip #1

For clients traveling specifically for the Great Migration, you should book both Kenya and Tanzania. Wildlife and weather are unpredictable, and migrating herds are impacted by the amount of rainfall.
